Tour of the dunes and fortifications on Voorne-Putten

Beach, beautiful overgrown dunes where you encounter many plants and animals: Voorne-Putten is so beautiful. And you will find nice fortified towns!

Voornes Duin Via Voornes Duin you cycle to Oostvoorne. This area is one of the most species-rich dunes in Europe! There used to be a tram line from Rotterdam to the beach boulevard of Oostvoorne. Many Rotterdammers still come here for a day at the seaside. In the old village centre you will find, among other things, the restored ruins of the medieval Jacobaburcht, the country residence of Jacoba van Beieren. Just outside the village is the Oostvoorne, a corn mill from 1821.

Historic Brielle You will also pass through the old centre of Brielle, the largely seventeenth-century fortress is one of the best preserved defences in the Netherlands. You will see, among other things, the Vliegend Hert, a corn mill from 1862. Further on you will discover even more beauty: the ruins of Ravesteijn Castle, which is actually called Slot Heenvliet. The castle started as a wooden fortification around the year 1100.
